信州ブレイブウォリアーズのアンソニー・マクヘンリーが現役引退を発表「プレーから離れる時が来た」
Bリーグ1部・信州ブレイブウォリアーズ（中地区）は19日、アンソニー・マクヘンリーが現役を引退することを発表した。今年の4月に40歳の誕生日を迎えたマクヘンリーは、2008年から2017年まで10シーズンに渡り琉球ゴールデンキングスでプレー。2017年に信州に移籍し、2022-23シーズンまで6シーズンに渡りプレーした。
2022-23シーズンは54試合に出場し、平均10.8得点、7.2リバウンド、3.5アシスト、1.4スティール、1.2ブロックを記録。高いバスケットボールIQとオールラウンドなプレーでチームをけん引し、中地区3位（29勝30敗）に導いた。
このオフシーズンの去就が注目されていたマクヘンリーだが、7月17日に自身のInstagramで「#shinshubravewarriorsboosters #ryukyugoldenkingsboosters #bleagueboosters #tonewbeginnings #retired（信州ブレイブウォリアーズブースター 琉球ゴールデンキングスブースター Bリーグブースターへ 新たな始まり 引退）」と投稿し、現役引退を示唆していた。

先ず最初に、私にチャンスを与えてくれた二つの球団、琉球ゴールデンキングスと信州ブレイブウォ
リアーズに感謝します。素晴らしいチームメイトやコーチと共にプレーできたこと、そしてクラブス
タッフと共に働けたことは決して忘れません。
私だけでなく私の家族が日本で過ごした沢山の時間が、どれだけ私たちの人生にインパクトとをもた
らしたかはかり知れません。チームの成功にまだ貢献できるかもしれませんが、プレーから離れる時
が来たのだと思い、今後は別の席からバスケットボールを楽しもうと思います!
そして、私と私の家族が日本で過ごした時間を支えてくださったブースターの皆さんにもありがとう
と伝えたいです。温かく迎え入れてくれただけでなく、沢山のサポートが私たちの心を満たしてくれ
ました。母国の友人や家族から離れていても寂しくなく過ごすことができたのは、日本に滞在中関わ
ってくださった皆さんからの愛情のおかげで感謝の念に堪えません。
昔と今のチームメイトやコーチには、私のキャリアだけでなく人生においてもどれだけの影響を与え
てくれたか感謝してもしきれません。私も彼らにとって同じような存在であったのであれば幸いです
。日本で過ごした全ての時間が私にとって大切な財産でありそれが変わる事はありません。
またどこかでお会いしましょう!

After much thought and prayer, I have made a decision to retire from playing basketball.
First, I would like to thank the two franchises that believed in me enough to give me an
opportunity… the Ryukyu Golden Kings and Shinshu Bravewarriors. I was very fortunate to
play with great teammates and coaches, and interact with wonderful staff members who I
will never forget. All of the many memories made throughout not only mine but my families
time in Japan has impacted our lives in ways that Iʼm sure we have yet to even fully
understand. Though I still feel like I can contribute to a teamʼs success, I think itʼs time for
me to step aside and enjoy basketball from a different seat! I would also like to thank the
many boosters who have supported my family and I throughout our time in Japan. Knowing
that we were not only welcomed but appreciated by so many has left our hearts full. Being
away from friends and family in our home country never felt like a burden because of the
loved that was shown by so many during our stay in japan, and for that I could never thank
you enough. If teammates and coaches, past and present, only knew how much I deeply
appreciate the effect that they have had on not only my career but life, they would also
know there is nothing that I could do to ever repay them. My only hope is that I was able to
do the same for them in some form or fashion. Iʼve cherished every moment spent in Japan.
I wouldnʼt change it for anything. Until we meet again!
